Good Hotel Antigua - Former Mansion turned Design Hotel with a Cause

Our review of this Guatemalan Boutique Hotel that Gives Back

The Good Hotel is a beautiful boutique design hotel in colonial Antigua, Guatemala. Run by Good Group, a non-dividend company, their goal is to do good. Good Group believes all businesses should be social businesses and their hotel has this approach baked into their DNA.

All profits are donated to NGO Niños de Guatemala, which provides quality education to Guatemalan children living in poverty. Their “do good” philosophy is applied into all parts of their business as well, for example -

Local & Upcycled

They work with local craftsmen to make make modern designs using natural, durable, re-purposed materials (e.g. furnishings handmade with locally sourced wood).

Sustainable

They use natural ventilation and water reclamation systems. They’re one of the only hotels in the city that filters water so it’s safe to drink from the tap.

Team of Single Moms

Their employees are single moms from the area that have and gone through their training program, taking them out unemployment and creating a safer environment for the next generation.

The hotel itself is a former mansion with a lush central courtyard and it’s situated on a quiet cobblestone street on the east side of the city. It’s a short walk to great restaurants (see our Antigua Guide here for recommendations), bars and Parque Central (the main square). Interior designs are minimal and refined. Beds are comfortable and natural soap, shampoo and conditioner is available in the bathroom. The hotel is beautiful - our photos speak for themselves.

If you’re into design, and have a big heart, you’ll have a happy stay here.
