Our Airbnb in Roma Norte, Mexico City

We trolled Airbnb for awhile looking for beautiful apartments in La Roma for under $100/night.

We booked Natalia’s apartment in Roma Norte after a thorough search. It was prefect for us and just as we expected.

Location was great - a short walk from Contramar, the city’s best seafood restaurant where we had planned a leisurely Friday afternoon lunch, and other “must-visit” spots like Arena Mexico, the best venue to watch Luche Libre (Mexican freestyle wrestling). Beautifully decorated - one Airbnb Reviewer described its interior design perfectly - “a mix of old world elegance and modern industrialism with earthy, organic touches.” And plenty of space to spread out - bedroom with California King bed and flat-screen TV (so luxurious we watched the entire season of GLOW on Netflix there as prep work for Luche Libre), two terraces, open dining/living room and two bathrooms. We checked into the apartment a few days into Jess’ food poisoning from bad pork and we quickly made it our home (and recovery den, and office). Leaving two weeks later was bitter-sweet.

If you book this place, you’ll have to meet up with America, Natalia's housekeeper. She’s very nice, but doesn’t speak English so be prepared. Also be prepared to be starstruck because your neighbor will be Academy Award-Winning film director, Alejandro González Iñárritu. He’s the famous director of Amores Perros (set in Mexico City), Babel, Birdman and The Revenant. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to meet him in person but we contemplated many scenarios where we did.
